Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.
SLPs work in many different research, education, and health care settings with varying roles, levels of responsibility, and client populations. In many settings, SLPs often work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, which may include teachers, physicians, audiologists, psychologists, social workers, physical and occupational therapists, and rehabilitation counselors.
If you would like to speak to a speech language pathologist (SLP) regarding your child, you can request a consultation. A no-cost consultation is a 15-20 minute phone call that allows you to discuss your concerns prior to scheduling an evaluation.
The SLP will ask questions about your child’s development, address any concerns you may have, and provide recommendations for your child.
